Plant Healthcare (PHC)

Arborist-Led Plant Healthcare Programs

Comprehensive PHC built on soil science, pest diagnostics, and species-specific treatment protocols. Not lawn care -- arboriculture.

What It Is & When You Need It

Plant healthcare (PHC) is a proactive, science-based approach to maintaining and improving the health of your trees and landscape plants. Unlike reactive treatments that address symptoms after damage is visible, PHC focuses on creating conditions that prevent problems before they occur.

Pelfrey's PHC programs are designed by ISA-certified arborists and include soil health analysis, nutrient management, pest and disease monitoring, root zone treatments, and targeted interventions when problems are detected. Every treatment decision is based on diagnosis, not guesswork.

This is not lawn care rebranded as tree care. Pelfrey does not offer TruGreen-style spray-and-pray applications. Our PHC programs are species-specific, site-specific, and managed by arborists who understand tree biology, soil chemistry, and integrated pest management.

Our Process

01

Diagnostic Assessment

Arborist evaluates canopy, bark, soil, and root zone for disease, pest, or deficiency signs.

02

Soil Analysis

Soil testing to identify pH imbalance, compaction, or nutrient deficiency.

03

Treatment Plan

Written PHC plan: targeted treatments, fertilization, and a monitoring schedule.

04

Treatment

Applied by trained technicians using environmentally responsible methods. Safe for kids and pets once dry.

05

Follow-Up

Re-evaluation at 60-90 days to assess response and adjust as needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is plant healthcare (PHC)?

Plant healthcare is a holistic approach to managing tree and plant health that emphasizes prevention, soil health, and integrated pest management. Rather than treating symptoms after they appear, PHC creates conditions that support vigorous growth and natural disease resistance. It is practiced by ISA-certified arborists, not lawn care technicians.

Are your treatments safe for kids and pets?

We prioritize low-toxicity and targeted treatments. Many PHC interventions -- soil amendments, deep root fertilization, mycorrhizal inoculation -- involve no pesticides at all. When pest or disease treatment is necessary, we use the least toxic effective option, applied in targeted locations rather than broadcast spraying. Your arborist will discuss safety considerations specific to each treatment before application.

How is Pelfrey different from a lawn care company?

Lawn care companies apply standardized spray programs on a calendar schedule regardless of what your landscape actually needs. Pelfrey's PHC is diagnostic -- we identify specific conditions, prescribe specific treatments, and monitor results. Our arborists understand tree biology, soil chemistry, and integrated pest management at a level that general lawn care providers do not.

Can PHC save a declining tree?

In many cases, yes. Trees that appear to be declining due to soil compaction, nutrient deficiency, root damage, or chronic pest pressure often respond well to targeted PHC interventions. However, if a tree has advanced structural decay or irreversible disease, PHC cannot reverse that damage. Your arborist will give you an honest assessment of whether treatment is likely to be effective.
